AICAR: Direct AMPK Activator

AICAR is a cell-permeable nucleoside that is phosphorylated intracellularly to ZMP, an AMP analog that directly activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK is a master metabolic sensor and regulator, and AICAR provides researchers with a pharmacological tool to activate this pathway independently of exercise or energy stress. Studies have examined AICAR’s effects on glucose uptake, fatty acid oxidation, mitochondrial biogenesis, and exercise-responsive gene programs.

EPO: Erythropoiesis Research

EPO is a glycoprotein hormone that stimulates red blood cell production through erythroid progenitor cell proliferation and differentiation. Research applications include erythropoiesis mechanisms and oxygen-sensing pathway studies (HIF signaling).
